Sam A Baker State Park
Sam A Baker is located along Big Creek at Mudlick Mountain. The park is known for swimming holes and great backpacking.
Trail System:
Mudlick Mountain Trail - 11.8 miles, great for backpacking, also passes by Mudlick Mountain Shut-In. Shut-In Trail - 1.8 miles. This trail passes scenic wet weather cascades and parallels Big Creek. Fire Tower Trail - 3.8 miles. This trail goes to the top of Mudlick Mountain to the old fire tower that was used to spot wildfires. Unfortunatley, the fire tower is closed. Mudlick Equestrian Hike Trail - 7.4 miles. Paved Bike Trail - 1.5 miles.
Camping and Recreation:
18 cabins, 200 campsites, 21 equestrian campsites available. Other features include a restaurant, boat launch, store, picnic area, ampitheatre, welcome center, and more.
Other Info:
The boat launch is located just downstream from where Big Creek runs into the St. Francis River. Mudlick Mountain is the second tallest mountain in Missouri, having a rise from 380ft to 1311ft
