Millstream Gardens:
Millstream Gardens is home to Tiemann Shut-In, a popular whitewater kayaking destination where the Missouri Whitewater Championships take place every year. There are multiple trails here including the ADA compliant Tiemann Shut-In Trail (1.8 miles) and Turkey Creek Trail (6.4 miles). Several lookouts along the trail are named after rapids along the river including Cat's Paw and Pine Rock.
Silver Mines:
Silver Mines, believe it or not, was once a silver mining operation. The mine operated on and off from 1877-1938 and was largely unsuccessful due to the hardness of the rock that had to be mined and the narrow veins of quartz. The dam had originally been built to supply the mines with water Silver Mines has also multiple US Forest Service campsites that are open seasonally. A day pass costs $5.00 and can be paid at a self serve kiosk.
