#7. Alley Spring

Alley Spring is one of the most recognizable scenes in the Ozarks. The spring lets off 84 million gallons of water a day and holds the record for largest measurement taken from any spring at over one billion gallons of water a day (after heavy rainfall). In the 1920's a geological event known as The Drop-In took place where a section of the underground spring tunnel collapsed resulting in a stop to the flow of the spring for 12 hours. A red mill next to the spring was constructed in 1893 but wasn't painted red until the 1940's. It feeds into the Jack's Fork River within the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.
