Lower Rock Creek

Lower Rock Creek may be my favorite location in Missouri. The creek, which is fed by seeps, flows all year but is best seen after rainfall. The trail starts off uneventful before opening up to the creek. There are large bluffs that line the creek up and down and small waterfalls and cascades that fall into blue plunge pools. The trail is probably one of the most dangerous and challenging dedicated trails in Missouri as far as I'm concerned. There are steep and slippery rocky portions that must be climed. About two or so miles down, the creek opens up to what is arguably the most scenic location on the creek: Cathedral Canyon. The canyon walls shoot over 200ft. in the air and come to a sharp point at the top, resembling a cathedral. The water below roars through the boulders and plunges into a pool of blue water.
