Lon Sanders Canyon Shut-In
Lon Sanders Canyon is located on McKenzie Creek in the outter edge of Piedmont Missouri. The shut-in is owned by the Missouri Department of Conservation. It can be easily enjoyed via a trail the parallels the creek. Dams located at the head of the shut-in and middle of the shut-in gives clues into it's past. The gorge was once going to become a resort, owned by Lon Sanders of St. Louis. The resort failed and all that is left are the dams, hand carved stone stairs, and a few other smaller manmade structures.
